Leopard Discus

The discus fish is a freshwater fish of the cichlid genus. Discus has been popular between all of the fish lovers because of its variated colors and beautiful body shape, so the fish’s common name is derived from its flattened shape. The habitat of Discus is Amazon river and based on which part of river is, the colors is different with each other. While the discus fish’s flat sides and rounded shape give the species some resemblance to angelfish, discus fish lack the angel fish’s characteristic extended fins. Their peaceful attitude relieves the owner’s worry about some challenges of conflicts with other fishes, but their sensitive aquarium requirements change the whole situation! hence, Captive discus fish have more vibrant colors when water parameters are well-maintained. Warm temperature and low PH water including some plants is needed due to the exact match with their natural habitat. Range of colors is divided to red and blue, brown and green and their scientific names is several: Symphysodon aequifasciatus (blue discus or brown discus), S. discus (red discus or heckle discus), S. tarzoo (green discus). Age and Size will be longer in tanks provided that their vital requirements will be observed.
